About Dr. Shannon
Katherine V. Shannon, M.D., completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, and moved to Louisville afterwards to continue her studies. While at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, she received the Schwartz Medical Humanities Award, and she earned her Doctor of Medicine in 2013. She then traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati in 2017.
“I have always had a strong connection with women, and pursuing a career in OBGYN was a natural way for me to promote women’s empowerment”, says Dr. Shannon.
Before joining Women First, Dr. Shannon performed OB/GYN work including gynecologic surgeries, labor and delivery, emergency consultations, and annual wellness exams. Having worked with patients of all ages, Dr. Shannon is particularly passionate about providing care for adolescent and post-menopausal women. She also greatly values the opportunity she has in her role to empower women through comprehensive health and reproductive education.
