Cystoscopy can be used as a diagnostic tool for blockages, growths or other problems with the bladder, kidneys and ureters. Cystoscopy is a tool used in the evaluation and treatment of urinary incontinence and in the evaluation for some pelvic problems. A cystoscopy involves the insertion of a thin tube with a light and camera on the end through your urethra into your bladder, allowing your doctor to visualize the inside of the bladder. Images from the tiny camera are displayed on a screen for your doctor to view. This procedure can usually be done quickly with a local anesthetic injection in the Women First office.
