If you have very heavy periods, you may find relief through an endometrial ablation, a procedure that scars the lining of the uterus. One option for this procedure is NovaSure® Endometrial Ablation.

Novasure is a quick, safe and simple procedure that can be effective in lightening or stopping your periods, often without the need for hormones or hysterectomy. It works by scarring the lining of the uterus, called the endometrium, with a quick delivery of radiofrequency energy.

  • No pills. No hormonal side effects.
  • For 77.7% of women, menstrual bleeding is dramatically reduced or stopped.
  • NovaSure is a one-time, five-minute procedure that often can be done in our office.

Step 1
Your doctor opens your cervix (the opening to your uterus) slightly, inserts a slender wand and extends a triangular-shaped electrode array device into your uterus.

Step 2
The electrode array expands, fitting to the size and shape of your uterus.

Step 3
Precisely measured radiofrequency energy is delivered through the electrode array for about 90 seconds.

Step 4
The electrode array device is pulled back into the wand, and both are removed from your uterus.
